Cocaine, also known as “coke”, “powder” or “line”, is a popular drug, mainly for recreational use. Made from the leaves of the coca plant, it is commonly created in the form of a fine white powder which is inhaled through the nose or it can be rubbed on the gums of the mouth. It is also sometimes injected into the users bloodstream after being dissolved in water. Some people use a combination of cocaine and heroin, also known as a “Speedball”.

While the powder form is the most common, another form is the rock crystal substance, known as crack cocaine. This refers to the sound it makes when the rock is heated to produce vapors which are inhaled into the lungs. Cocaine increases the levels of the naturally occuring chemical found in the brain called dopamine.
